My name is Alicja. I am a clinical and research psychologist and an adult sleep coach.
I became interested in sleep a few years ago when I was experiencing my own struggles. I used to wake up in the middle of the night, and was not able to get back to sleep. Alicja's approach focussed on providing exercises for me to try, and identifying the problem areas that may have been disturbing my sleep. One of my main issues is having an 'over-active' mind when I try and sleep, and Alicja offered a range of different strategies to try and deal with that with the aim of finding one that worked for me. I was able to try a number of activities and exercises, reflect upon their effectiveness and select the ones that work best for me going forward. This approach was used throughout each element of the coaching - different topics that Alicja focussed upon each session such as routines, diet, etc. Each time, I was given a wide range of suggestions and exercises to try for a week, pick the ones that I am most comfortable with and stick to them before reflecting in our next session.
